Chatel is a major ski resort that retains much of its original alpine charm. It is described as a Swiss village on the
French border, with working farms and local arts and crafts giving Chatel a traditional atmosphere.

|
Chatel is part of the Portes du Soliel domain, the largest international linked ski area in the world
with over 650 km of varied terrain spread across 8 French and 4 Swiss resorts. Skiers and boarders therefore have an almost
endless choice of runs on their doorstep to suit all abilities and there is so much to discover that it keeps people coming
back year after year. The free ski-bus means that wherever you are, you are never more than a few minutes away from the ski-lift
of your choice.

Chatel has two main ski areas; Super Châtel & Le Linga/Pre-La-Joux. Super Chatel is ideal for
beginners and intermediates and links directly into Switzerland and the resorts of Torgon and Morgins. Le Linga/Pre-La-Joux
includes more challenging runs and links directly into Avoriaz and Morzine. The piste at Linga is also open once a week for
floodlight night skiing.
Away from the slopes there are plenty of other things to do in and around Chatel.
There is an ice rink, two cinemas, a bowling alley a toboggan run and plenty of bars and restaurants. The working farms allow
you to taste and buy the local cheeses and there are possibilities of ice diving, husky dog sled rides, tobogganing, walking
and relaxing in the nearby thermal springs.
